Frequently Asked Questions

Disc golf tags are typically sequentially-numbered matching sets of tags, usually similar in size and shape to luggage tags.  They are displayed (usually for bragging rights) on a player's bag/cart and are used to make casual rounds more fun by competing for the lowest tag number.  

Traditionally, "tag matches" are played when multiple players holding tags from the same tag set play a round.  At the end of the round, the player with the best score takes the lowest tag in the group as their "tag out".  The player with the next best score takes the next lowest tag, continuing for all players.  In the event of a tie score, the player's tag at the beginning of the round, their "tag in", is the tiebreaker.

All DiscGolf.cloud tags are connected to the DiscGolf.cloud platform.  Our tags are built with NFC chips and/or QR codes, uniquely encoded and paired with a digital tag.  Tags can be scanned by any iPhone or Android device, where the current tag holder and full tag history can be retrieved.  Group members can view leaderboards, rounds played, and statistics for their groups.

Signing up for DiscGolf.cloud is free, and is required to activate our tags.  Limited functionality is available to all registered users, including viewing public leaderboards, tags, and live events, and joining existing clubs/groups.  Individuals and clubs/organizations can purchase premium subscriptions, which all include free sets of our tags (shipping, tax, and custom design not included).

Many people who have played disc golf in recent years might already be familiar with tags. What makes DiscGolf.cloud different is that all of our tags have embedded NFC chips (or QR codes), and each is connected to a virtual tag, which allows you track the tag holder, history, and view leaderboards for your group.  We have lots of exciting features coming on our roadmap, all of which will be available for DiscGolf.cloud users.

We do not expose any publicly-consumable APIs at this point.
